Real Madrid's Sami Khedira 'faces three weeks out with hamstring injury'

Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira will be out for the next three weeks with a strained hamstring, according to AS.

Khedira, 27, sustained the problem during Madrid's 4-0 La Liga loss against rivals Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

The European champions confirmed news of the injury on their official website after the Germany international underwent tests, and AS claims he now faces three weeks on the sidelines.

The injury comes at a bad time for Madrid, with Luka Modric and James Rodriguez also currently out with fitness issues.

Khedira will likely miss the La Liga clashes against Deportivo La Coruna, Elche and Villarreal, as well as the Champions League last-16 first leg against Schalke.

Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti could turn to Asier Illarramendi or new boy Lucas Silva to replace Khedira.
