Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge: I'm ready to start against Everton

Daniel Sturridge insists he is ready to start Saturday's Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, having recovered from injuries that saw him last named in the first XI back in August.

Sturridge, 25, has been sidelined since September with calf and thigh injuries but has made two appearances off the bench for Liverpool and scored within seven minutes of his return at Anfield last weekend against West Ham.

At his prematch news conference, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said that Sturridge was under consideration to start but the player himself has made it clear he wants to play every minute of the game.

"First and foremost I'm excited. Its my favourite game. I love it, I love that game. The feeling in the city is completely different when you play that game, the energy and everything. So I'm looking forward to it," he told BT Sport.

"In terms of whether I'm going to play or not that's the manager's decision but I am ready for whatever, ready for anything that the manager wants to do, I feel I'm ready to start. But it's down to the manager to pick the team.

"I've had a week and a bit's worth of training as well as the two games that I've come on and played a part, and looking forward to getting back into it and playing 90 minutes and performing as best as I can."
