Wilfried Zaha sold by Man United in permanent Crystal Palace transfer

Wilfried Zaha has left Manchester United after completing a permanent transfer back to Crystal Palace for a reported fee of three million pounds, signing a five-and-a-half year deal.

The winger, who was Sir Alex Ferguson's final signing, has been on loan at Selhurst Park in the first half of the season, scoring one goal in 19 games.

The England international, who cost United 15 million pounds two years ago, only made four appearances for them and never started a league game.

Zaha's transfer frees up another loan spot in the Palace squad in case manager Alan Pardew wants to borrow another player from a Premier League club for the rest of the season.

He becomes Palace's fifth winter signing after on-loan Yaya Sanogo, Jordon Mutch, Shola Ameobi and Pape Souare.

The 22-year-old joins on a five and a half year contract for an undisclosed fee, making his loan move from the Red Devils to Palace, agreed in August, now permanent.

After signing his new deal, he told the official website: "I wasn't getting much game time at Manchester United so took the opportunity of coming back on loan this season and to now have the chance to make the move permenant and come home to Selhurst Park is something I'm delighted about.

"For me to be a better player I need to play more games and having a gaffer that, I know, has great trust in me gives me the confidence I need to help me improve my game.

"I started playing here when I was eight years of age and my family live local and to have the opportunity to take the field in the Premier League for this club is a dream come true."

Zaha was bought by Ferguson in January 2013 and promptly loaned back to Palace, helping them to promotion to the Premier League in May 2013.

He then struggled to make an impact under David Moyes and spent the second half of last season at Cardiff, where he was unable to prevent their relegation, before Louis van Gaal loaned him to Palace, where he has been happier.

Zaha said last month: "When I am here, I feel more confident. I have lived in south London all my life and my family is here. I cannot keep that in my head all the time because I could have another move, but Crystal Palace is my home."

The 22-year-old joins the exodus of fringe players from Old Trafford in this window, with defender Michael Keane going to Burnley for 3 million pounds and Anderson clinching a move to Internacional.

Palace revealed that Barry Bannan had joined Bolton on loan, with the midfielder tweeting:

Meanwhile, the club also announced the signing of Keshi Anderson from semi-professional football club Barton Rovers.
