Lionel Messi missed training for Barcelona on Monday after the club gave him permission to "attend to a personal issue."
Messi scored the winner as Barcelona twice recovered from a goal down to triumph 3-2 at home to Villarreal on Sunday evening.
A club statement said Monday's training session, held in freezing conditions at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, saw players who started against Villarreal did recovery work.
Neymar, Dani Alves and Douglas did individual work as Luis Enrique's side -- a point behind Real Madrid at the top of La Liga -- began preparations for next weekend's visit to Athletic Bilbao.
The players will be given Tuesday and Wednesday off before their training regime resumes on Thursday.
