Daniel Sturridge full of praise for Raheem Sterling after Liverpool return

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge reserved praise for teammate Raheem Sterling after making a goal-scoring return from injury against West Ham United on Saturday.

Sturridge, 25, played his first game for Liverpool in five months against the Hammers, scoring the second in a 2-0 win.

But it was Sterling, the scorer of the first goal who is back on top form after being given a sunshine break by manager Brendan Rodgers, who Sturridge wanted to talk about.

"Raheem has done extremely well," Sturridge told Liverpool's official website. "He's working hard and I'm proud of him as his 'older brother' to look at him and see how well he's done.

"I just hope he continues to work hard and play in the way he has because he's improving every single day. He takes it in his stride -- he doesn't get too big headed, he doesn't get overly confident with anything.

"I take him under my arm when he goes through difficult times as well, but I give him all the credit in the world and I'm really proud of him."

On his return to first-team action after such a long layoff, the England international added: "It was a great feeling to help my teammates get three points. That's the most important thing -- to just be out there and helping the team win games."
