Raheem Sterling's new Liverpool deal 'in hand,' Brendan Rodgers says

LIVERPOOL -- Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers insists that Raheem Sterling's contract is "in hand" despite a split between the winger's agents.

Sterling, 20, has been represented by Rob Segal and Aidy Ward of London-based Impact Sports Management.

But Ward is in the process of leaving to set up his own business, Segal confirmed to the Daily Mail on Wednesday.

Rodgers told a news conference last Thursday that a deal was "very imminent," while sources have also said Sterling was on the verge of signing a new contract.

"I think it's all in hand with the football club and his representatives," Rodgers said. "Raheem's playing very well at the moment. I spoke to him and he's very happy.

"He's happy with his progress. He's a real sponge for learning and he knows he's in the right place to develop."

Rodgers revealed in early October that Impact Sports Management were in talks with Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre to extend Sterling's current contract, with runs until 2017.

The England international's new deal is set to commit him to staying at Anfield until 2020.
