Porto forward Jackson Martinez is to snub the Premier League and seek a move to Serie A in the summer, according to his agent.
Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are both reported to be chasing the Portuguese league's top scorer, but their efforts to lure him to England would prove futile since the player has his heart set on a move to Italy.
Henrique Pompeo, the 28-year-old's agent, says Serie A is where the Porto forward sees himself next.
"We know that it won't be easy, but his desire is clear -- he wants to play in Serie A," Pompeo told AreaNapoli.it "He would be honoured to have this opportunity. He loves the Italian league and if he were to leave Porto, Serie A would be his first choice.
"He's happy in Portugal, but at the same time he is attracted by another adventure in Europe. Let's just wait until the end of the season to see what we can do."
Napoli are one of the clubs reported to be keen on the prolific forward, who was linked with both AC Milan and Roma last summer, but priced out of the Italian market by his club.
"If he goes to Napoli, he would be delighted because we're talking about a very special club," continued Pompeo. "He would also be delighted to go to Roma, Milan or to Juventus -- they are all good clubs.
"He'd like a new adventure; a new league and a new type of football, even if right now, I repeat, there is nothing definite and it's all hypothetical. It's not about money. It's just the right time now for him to leave. We're going to talk to Porto.
"He signed a new contract 10 months ago and he was happy, but a player's motivation is important. Everybody at one stage or another needs to move on to a new objective. We want a big club with a new, convincing project."
A move in the current transfer window is unlikely, though.
"Porto still need him for the Champions League," Pompeo said. "Benfica are stumbling too so they still have a chance of winning the league, so Jackson's only going to leave at the end of the season.
"More than anything, he's a friend of mine, as a person and as a footballer, and he deserves to play at a club as big as he is. Anybody who wants him will have to call me, and only me."
