Bayern 'right' move over Real Madrid - Robert Lewandowski to Marco Reus

Robert Lewandowski has told Sport Bild that he would not advise former Borussia Dortmund teammate Marco Reus against joining him at Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski, 26, joined Bayern on a free transfer from Dortmund in the summer of 2014. The Poland captain already wanted to join the Bundesliga powerhouse the previous year, but was denied a switch following Mario Gotze's shock move from the Ruhr Valley to Bavaria.

This summer, Reus could become the third player in as many years to join Bayern from the club that beat them to the Bundesliga tittle in 2011 and 2012. The 25-year-old attacker can trigger a reported 25 million-euro release clause in his BVB contract, which is valid until 2017.

Real Madrid have appeared to be leading the race for the Germany international's signature, who could still stay at Dortmund regardless of the current crisis at his hometown club, though Bayern are still an option.

"Should he ask me [about Bayern], I will tell that I have done everything right with opting for Bayern and against Real Madrid," Lewandowski, who was also a Los Blancos target, told Sport Bild.

"But I won't tell Marco: 'You have to join Bayern!' In the end, it's his decision," Lewandowski added.

The Bayern striker has not been in touch with Reus in the last couple of months, citing the Dortmund attacker's recent problems with the law by saying: "I know what he needs the most in those phases: To have his peace."

On top of an injury-cursed 2014 which saw Reus miss the World Cup with an ankle injury and most of the first half of the current season with two fresh ankle injuries, the Dortmund star was fined over 500,000 euros for driving without a driving license, and moreover never having had a license.

But, according to Sport Bild, Reus is currently in no hurry to attend driving school, and also does not plan to make a decision about his future until March, with his focus solely on turning BVB's season around.
