Charlie I'Anson loaned to Real Oviedo by Elche

Charlie I'Anson, the only English player in La Liga, has joined Real Oviedo on loan from Elche.

I'Anson, 21, signed for Elche in 2012 after two years with Grimsby Town and, after impressing with the reserves, made his La Liga debut in October 2013.

The defender was loaned to Segunda Division side Alcorcon in the summer to gain further first-team experience, and will now move on to third-tier side Real Oviedo, subject to a medical.

The deal was confirmed via a club statement on Oviedo's official website Tuesday.

"Real Oviedo have reached an agreement to take the defender Charlie Dean Ianson ('Charlie') on loan until the end of the season," the statement read.

"Charlie, 21, was born on 1 July 1993 in Luton (England). The defender, who debuted in the Primera Division last season with Elche, arrives on loan from that club, having come via Alcorcon. He will sign his agreement with the oviedista club until June 2015 once he has passed the relevant medical tests."

Oviedo, who are currently eight points clear at the top of the Segunda Division B and well placed to secure promotion to the second tier, had suffered a very difficult decade due to financial and other off-pitch issues.

However, over the last 30 months they have had an upswing in fortunes after a much-publicised push for small-investors to take a share in the club. More recently. Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has also made a significant investment.

Oviedo had previously had former Nottingham Forest and Liverpool striker Stan Collymore on their books.
