Theo Walcott confident of Arsenal's chances of retaining FA Cup

Theo Walcott believes Arsenal have a "massive opportunity" to win the FA Cup for a second year running this season following the weekend's fourth-round upsets.

The competition threw up a number of surprises with Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham and Southampton all being knocked out, while Manchester United and Liverpool still have to get past replays.

Arsenal, meanwhile, booked their place in the fifth round with a 3-2 victory over Brighton on Sunday and Walcott, who scored his side's opener, feels they now have a real chance of securing some more silverware.

"As defending champions it is our cup at the moment. All those teams going out means it is a massive opportunity," Walcott told the Daily Mirror. "We believe with the team we have and the players coming back to fitness we can beat anyone."

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger believes Saturday's shock results helped his side to avoid any complacency going into their game at Brighton.

"When you first see the results you have to check them twice and then you think 'Oh!' I think the result was a bit of a subconscious warning for us," he said. "It woke us up a bit. Yes it's a Championship team, but at a lower level now the teams are prepared.

"They are players from the academies in the Premier League, they don't quite make it but can maintain the pace for 90 minutes. Even in League One the teams play good football and if you are not ready you can lose."
