Tottenham want Burnley's Danny Ings, sources say

Tottenham Hotspur are planning a bid for Burnley star Danny Ings as they look to bolster their attacking options in this month's transfer window, sources have told ESPN FC.

Tottenham are in the market for reinforcements, with doubts surrounding the futures of misfiring duo Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor.

ESPN FC has been told that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino rates Ings highly and has made the England under-21 international his top target this month.

The 22-year-old's contract is due to expire at the end of the season, alerting a host of clubs to his potential availability.

Clubs including Liverpool and Newcastle have also been reported to have an interest in Ings, but Spurs are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by making a bid in the region of seven million pounds before the transfer window closes.

However, it may prove difficult to secure a deal before the summer. Ings has said he has no interest in leaving Turf Moor in January, while Burnley boss Sean Dyche said there is no financial need to sell the striker.

Ings has scored seven goals in his debut season in the Premier League and is top scorer for Burnley, who are currently one point clear of the relegation zone.
