Harry Redknapp: Queens Park Rangers will not sign Alexander Pato

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has told Sky Sports that he was offered the chance to sign Brazilian striker Alexander Pato, but will not be making a move for the former AC Milan forward.

Pato, 25, was brought to the San Siro from Internacional in 2007, though failed to live up to his potential before returning to Brazil with a move to Corinthians in 2013.

Redknapp says that the Brazil international -- currently on loan at Sao Paulo from Corinthians -- was offered to him on Thursday, but will not be targeting a deal for the forward despite QPR sitting 19th in the Premier League table.

"I got offered [Pato], someone rang yesterday, and today it's in the newspapers," Redknapp said. "He is obviously a good player and I am not being disrespectful to him but no, he is not the type of player we are looking for.

"I am sure he is a good player but he would not be for us. It is difficult when you are looking around the market at this time of year, it is not easy to find players.

"We are trying, we are looking round, but I could not say we are close to making any signings at the moment."

Redknapp also revealed that no clubs have been in contact with QPR regarding a move for Adel Taarabt, despite reports linking the midfielder with a January moe to Serie A side Torino.

"We have not heard anything and [Taarabt] is ill again, unfortunately, this week," Redknapp added. "He has been laid low quite a bit this year but hopefully he will be back in training next week.

"I have not heard anything, no one has contacted the club about Adel."

QPR have been linked with the likes of Inter Milan forward Pablo Daniel Osvaldo with Redknapp searching for another forward to offer goals alongside top scorer Charlie Austin.
