Georginio Wijnaldum rejected Paris Saint-Germain to stay at PSV

Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed he rejected a move to Paris Saint-Germain, preferring to stay at PSV Eindhoven.

Wijnaldum, 24, recently signed a contract extension through to 2018 with PSV, but was linked to the French champions, who are seeking to increase their options in midfield.

However, the Netherlands international, who has been at PSV since 2011 following a move from Feyenoord, told Voetbal International he was not interested in a switch to the French capital.

"PSG wanted to sign me. For me, it was confirmation that I am on the right track and was in a good spell," Wijnaldum said. "My heart told me I had to stay at PSV where I still have things to achieve."

The midfielder's impressive form at the 2014 World Cup interested Laurent Blanc's side, but Wijnaldum has gone on to score 10 goals in 23 appearances for PSV this season as well as notching four assists.
