Arsenal set for crucial talks with agent over Joel Campbell's future

Joel Campbell's agent has travelled to England for talks with Arsenal as the Costa Rica interntional seeks a move away from the North London side, sources have told ESPN FC.

Joaquim Batica, who criticised Gunners manager Arsene Wenger in the summer for not letting Campbell join Benfica, was at the club's London Colney training ground on Thursday to try and sort out his client's future.

The 22-year-old has made just four Premier League appearances for Arsenal this season, seeing a lack of first-team opportunities despite an impressive showing at the World Cup last year.

Campbell was expected to play a bigger role for the club this term after impressing on loan at Olympiakos last year and catching the eye in the summer in Brazil.

A host of clubs at home and abroad are believed to have expressed an interest in Campbell, and Batica is hoping to thrash out the player's future during talks with Arsenal officials.

David Moyes' Real Sociedad have enquired about the forward, while Villarreal are also keen on him and could ask for Campbell to be included as part of any possible deal for Gunners target Gabriel Paulista.

Campbell, who enjoyed a spell on loan at Real Betis in the 2012-13 campaign, wants to be playing regularly in the second half of the current season after finding himself behind players such as Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez in the pecking order in Wenger's plans.

Arsenal have already allowed Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo to leave the club on loan this season -- to Inter Milan and Crystal Palace respectively -- so Wenger will have to decide if he is willing to sanction a departure for Campbell before the close of the transfer window.
