Juventus can cope if they sell Paul Pogba - Marcello Lippi

Marcello Lippi does not believe it would be a disaster if Juventus were to sell Paul Pogba next summer.

The France midfielder has been linked with a move away from Juve, having regularly caught the eye with his displays for the Serie A champions.

Juve's general manager Beppe Marotta admitted the Italian club would have to listen to any high offer, adding weight to speculation linking the 21-year-old, who only last October extended his contract with the Bianconeri until 2019, with a move away from Italy before next season.

The club's fans have made vociferous calls for Pogba not to be sold in each of the club's last two home games, but former coach Lippi suggests his sale could actually be a blessing.

"It would be a huge sacrifice, of course, for Juventus to deprive themselves of Pogba, but it would be such a huge amount of money that they could buy three or four other players and still guarantee continuity," Lippi told Sky Sport Italia.

According to World Cup winner Lippi, it would be similar to when he was forced to sell Zinedine Zidane while in charge of Juve.

"[President Gianni] Agnelli called me and told me he had some very bad news for me -- we had to sell Zidane," Lippi said.

"I thought 'how can we? He's the best player in the world.' But they gave us 150 billion lire [75 million euros] and Agnelli told me I could buy other players with that money and so I bought [Gianluigi] Buffon, [Pavel] Nedved and [Lilian] Thuram.

"We constructed a team which continued to win things and Juve could do that with the money from Pogba."

Earlier this week, Real Madrid senior figures Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane both played down potential interest in Pogba, for the moment at least.
