Jose Mourinho: Chelsea cannot win league, FA Cup and League Cup

LIVERPOOL -- Jose Mourinho insisted Chelsea cannot do a domestic treble after they drew the first leg of their Capital One Cup semifinal with Liverpool at Anfield.

A win at Stamford Bridge next week would take Chelsea, who have a 100 percent home record in the Premier League this season, into a first final of Mourinho's second spell in charge.

But although they have a five-point lead in the Premier League and an FA Cup tie against League One Bradford, Mourinho is adamant it is impossible for them to win all three competitions.

"No," he said in a news conference. "It is too difficult."

Liverpool had 20 shots to Chelsea's two and Thibaut Courtois was outstanding at Anfield, leading Mourinho to declare he has two of the world's top three goalkeepers, along with the omitted Petr Cech.

"I think the three best are Petr, Courtois and [Manuel] Neuer," he added. "The Premier League is full of top goalkeepers but we have the two best so for me it is so easy and to have both playing so well and giving so much confidence to the team. I decide according to the profile of the game we are expecting. It is fantastic."

Mourinho was pleased to reduce the semifinal to a one-legged game by securing a draw but disappointed that his side, who he felt defended well, misplaced too many passes in promising counter-attacking positions.

Away goals do not come into effect in the competition unless the second leg goes to extra time, and he said: "It was a two-legged semifinal and now it becomes a one-legged semifinal played at Stamford Bridge. Away goals are not important so 0-0 is not good for us and 2-2 is not good for Liverpool. We have to win and Liverpool have to win.

"Obviously Liverpool doesn't deserve to lose but I go frustrated because we had lots of situations where we recovered the ball in a low block and we were facing three defenders, with lots of space to counter attack and Eden [Hazard], Willian and Diego [Costa] in great positions but we lose so many passes.

"Recover the ball, lose the ball, recover the ball, lose the ball -- exactly the opposite that happened against Swansea [in the 5-0 win].

"Today, we did fantastic defensive work but we were not efficient in the transition. To score only one goal frustrates me."

Mourinho said he was bemused at suggestions that Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado, a Chelsea transfer target, was at Anfield as a guest of the club, responding to a question about the Colombian by asking: "He was here?"
