Yaya Toure fails to commit long-term future to Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has refused to commit his long-term future to the Premier League champions.

Toure, 31, is currently away with Ivory Coast at the African Nations Cup, but in an interview with CNN he hinted that his future could lie away from the Etihad Stadium.

Asked if he would still be part of Manuel Pellegrini's squad next season, he said: "That's a big question and that's an easy question as well, and you have an easy answer... we'll see.

"I don't know. I'm at City. City is a great club where I've achieved lots of things."

His comments are sure to spark speculation in the summer, with Paris Saint-Germain long linked with a big-money offer. Toure himself has previously said he is open to a move to PSG.

Last May, the player was said to feel unappreciated after City failed to wish him happy birthday. Rumours that he would move on after the World Cup proved unfounded and he ruled out leaving last July.

After a disappointing start to the current campaign he is now getting back to top form, though Ivory Coast may feel the main benefit of that in Equatorial Guinea.

Later on Friday, Pellegrini told a news conference he was not concerned by Toure's remarks.

"I think Yaya is 100 percent committed with our team and with this team," the City boss said. "I don't have any doubts about that."
