Congo coach Claude Le Roy slams facilities at African Nations Cup

Congo coach Claude Le Roy has claimed that his side have not been given hotel rooms after arriving at the African Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea and hit out at the standard of the facilities on offer.

Equatorial Guinea stepped in to host the tournament after Morocco pulled out over Ebola fears in November and teams are arriving in the country as the tournament starts on Saturday.

Congo face the hosts in the opening game, but are not happy with their base of operations in the port city of Bata.

"There are not enough places for my staff and it's even difficult to find rooms for the players," Le Roy told the BBC World Service. "The electricity is terrible, everything is exposed. I wanted to wash my hands. There was no water.

"Some of my assistants went around to see if there were rooms available somewhere but it seems very very difficult."

When asked about his side's accommodation, he added: "I'm not disappointed, that's what I was expecting. I don't want a big five-star hotel. I just want something very clean."

Equatorial Guinea were co-hosts with Gabon for the 2012 African Nations Cup but Le Roy insisted that "time was too short to organise a tournament like this."
