Malaga sign Cardiff striker Javi Guerra on loan until end of season

Malaga have completed the loan signing of Spanish striker Javi Guerra from Cardiff, the Primera Division side announced on Thursday.

Guerra, 32, joins the Andalusian outfit on a temporary basis from the Championship club.

A statement from Malaga FC read: "Malaga and Cardiff City FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Javi Guerra, with no buy-out option included.

"The striker has joined the team in training this morning and will be a member of Malaga FC until the end of the season."

Guerra is under contract with the Welsh outfit until June 2017.

The forward joined Cardiff from Real Valladolid in the summer of 2014, but failed to score in his three Championship substitute appearances and two Capital One Cup starts this season.

Guerra, who is Malaga's second reinforcement in the winter transfer window following the arrival of Belarus defender Egor Filipenko from BATE Borisov, is delighted to have returned to La Liga.

"I'm really enthusiastic," Guerra told the Spanish press. "I can't wait to get started."

Guerra could debut for Malaga at Sevilla on Sunday, with the club seventh in La Liga.
