Marcos Rojo hopes Manchester United can beat City and fight for title

Marcos Rojo has targeted revenge in the Manchester derby and hopes it will help Manchester United challenge for the title.

The Argentina defender's first meeting with Manchester City ended in a 1-0 win for the reigning champions, while he was stretchered off with a shoulder injury that kept him out for a month.

But Manuel Pellegrini's team have to visit Old Trafford during the title run-in in April and former Sporting Lisbon player Rojo has pinpointed it as a must-win game.

He told Inside United: "It's vital we win the next Manchester derby at home in front of our own supporters -- I think we are going to win that one.

"As for expectations from now to the end of the season, well, to try and give my absolute best in every game until the end, and hope that we pick up some good results along the way so we can be in with a shout in the shake-up for the title."

Rojo, who reached the World Cup final with Argentina, has set his sights on winning silverware in both England and Europe as a United player.

He added: "My minimum objective this year is to qualify for next year's Champions League. It would be great to pick up a European trophy with this club. That and a league title is what I really want to win."

Rojo has not featured for five weeks since United's 2-1 win at Southampton because of a muscle injury but he has returned to training and is closing in on a comeback.
