Lyon score three to cruise past Toulouse, Bordeaux and Monaco draw

Lyon took over top spot in Ligue 1 on Sunday with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Toulouse.

Alexandre Lacazette's first-half brace set the hosts on their way, and Nabil Fekir sealed matters with a third goal at the start of the second half.

The result lifted Les Gones a point ahead of Marseille, who went down 2-1 at Montpellier on Friday night, and left TFC just one point above the drop zone.

Hubert Fournier's side needed just 13 minutes to take the lead at the Stade de Gerland, and came courtesy of a helping hand from the visitors.

Oscar Trejo surrendered possession to Maxime Gonalons, who freed Fekir. He sent a perfect cross towards Lacazette, who despatched a low volley past Ali Ahamada.

Ahamada did well to keep it at just 1-0 eight minutes later when he kept out a snap-shot from Christophe Jallet after Rachid Ghezzal's neat lay-off.

Just before the half-hour mark it was 2-0, though, as Lacazette posted his fourth consecutive double.

Neither Monaco nor Bordeaux were able to make up telling ground on the top four in Ligue 1 as they played out a goalless draw on Sunday night.

Bordeaux's Thomas Toure came closest to finding a winner when his shot in the 81st minute came back off a post.

The draw left Monaco fifth, five points behind fourth-placed Paris St Germain, with their opponents one point and one place further back.

Lowly Metz stopped Nantes' two-match winning Ligue 1 run as they recorded a goalless draw at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday.

Metz had lost six of their previous seven league games but they showed resilience to keep only their second clean sheet since mid-October and move out of the relegation zone at Evian's expense.

Nantes came into the game on the back of league wins against Bordeaux and Lorient and had the game's first chance when Issa Cissokho released Alejandro Bedoya down the right before Yacine Bammou headed his cross inches over the crossbar.
