Real Madrid sound out David de Gea over summer move - reports

David de Gea is Real Madrid's first choice to take over from Iker Casillas at the Bernabeu, according to AS.com.

The Spanish daily reports that talks between Madrid and the player's camp began some weeks ago ahead of the 2015-16 season, while the goalkeeper believes that his time at Manchester United is up and he yearns to play in Spain and La Liga again.

National team coach Vicente del Bosque has already pointed De Gea out as the natural replacement for Casillas in La Roja's goal and Madrid are of the same mind, with United having signed Victor Valdes as a backup in case he decides to move.

Valdes signed an 18-month contract and recently said of his new teammate: "De Gea is the best goalkeeper in the world."

De Gea's contract is up in the summer of 2016, and United have reportedly placed a price tag of 30 million euros on the Madrid-born goalkeeper -- who has been in exceptional form this season so far -- eight million euros more than the fee they paid Atletico Madrid for him in 2011.

United are also closely monitoring Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul if De Gea does choose to head to Madrid.
