Former Germany keeper Timo Hildebrand will not join the Seattle Sounders, his agent has told kicker. The 35-year-old's future is still very much up in the air, and the shot-stopper could stay at his current club Eintracht Frankfurt or join a MLS side.

Hildebrand joined Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt as a free agent in late September 2014 after his contract at FC Schalke 04 had run out in the summer that year.

The former Germany international, who won seven caps between 2004 and 2007, was signed as the backup keeper for Felix Wiedewald when the Eagles first choice shot stopper Kevin Trapp suffered an injury which ended his year 2014.

Toward the end of the season, after Wiedewald, 24, was diagnosed with the glandular fever, Hildebrand briefly returned between the Frankfurt sticks and collected his 300th Bundesliga appearance at his fourth German club.

However, the former Valencia and Sporting Lisbon shot stopper has eyed a switch to MLS in the past, and has still not lost sight of one final move abroad.

The deal currently hinges on his teammate Felix Wiedwald, who reportedly has agreed to return to his old club Werder Bremen either during the winter or in the summer when his contract expires.

Frankfurt have not yet decided whether they will cash in on Wiedwald during the January transfer window -- with Bremen offering some 350,000 euros for the keeper -- or whether they will hang on to him until the summer.

Should Wiedwald stay at Frankfurt, it is highly likely that Hildebrand will leave Frankfurt like planned. But, speaking to kicker, his agent Jorg Neblung ruled out that the former Germany keeper will join MLS side Seattle Sounders.

"Seattle are no option. And I can't discuss the other options," Neblung said, and confirmed that a MLS move is still on the cards.
