Inter Milan confirm deal for Bayern Munich attacker Xherdan Shaqiri

Inter Milan have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for Xherdan Shaqiri to move to the Nerazzurri.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, representatives of Inter visited Bayern's headquarters on Thursday morning, meeting with the Bundesliga club's chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, sporting director Martin Sammer and Shaqiri's agent.

A deal worth a reported total of 15 million euros was struck just after lunch, and the club confirmed via Twitter that the deal is agreed save for the paperwork.

Inter have reportedly convinced Shaqiri to join them, initially on a loan deal until the end of the season, but with the obligation to make it permanent in the summer, with the Switzerland international set to sign on until 2019.

He is expected to travel to Milan on Thursday afternoon after skipping training with Bayern in the morning as negotiations were underway.

He will say his goodbyes to his Bayern teammates, who on Friday jet out to Doha for a week-long training camp during the Bundesliga's winter break.

Should all the paperwork go through in time, Shaqiri could make his debut in Sunday's clash with Genoa at the San Siro, when Lukas Podolski will also make his first appearance in front of his new club's fans.

Stoke City had also expressed an interest in the player, who requested to leave Bayern this winter due to his limited opportunities in Bavaria.
