Rodgers: Sturridge back soon (1:06)

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says his club progressed in 2014 and will have Daniel Sturridge back soon (1:06)

Daniel Sturridge's "incredible work ethic" has been praised as the Liverpool striker closes in on his return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Sturridge has not featured for Liverpool since Aug. 31 having struggled with a thigh injury, originally sustained while on international duty with England.

The striker has been in America working on his fitness and Scott Schrimscher, a specialist for fitness and recovery group EXOS, has lauded his determination to return to peak condition.

"Daniel has an incredible work ethic and is wonderful to work with. He is a class act and has a bright future ahead," Schrimscher told the Liverpool Echo.

"The methodology we utilised with Daniel is supported by four main pillars: mindset, movement, nutrition, and recovery and it is that holistic and seamlessly integrated system that helps players of all levels improve their performance on the pitch."

Sturridge recently posted a photo on his official Instagram account expressing his gratitude for the work put into his rehabilitation.

The forward signed for Liverpool from Chelsea in January 2013 and has since scored 32 goals in 46 Premier League appearances for the club.

Rodgers recently said that Sturridge is on course to return to action in mid-January.
