JFA to discuss youth development with Manchester City

Johor Football Association (JFA) president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim will meet representatives of English Premier League champions Manchester City on Jan.12 to discuss ways of working together in the area of youth development.

"We have signed a similar agreement with eight time Bundesliga winners Borussia Dortmund recently which will see us sending our young talented players for a two-year stint with the German club," Tunku Ismail told The Star.

"Besides Manchester City, we also received positive feedback from La Liga side Valencia. My main ambition is to make JFA the best football association in the region, especially for youth development. I am grateful that top European clubs are willing to help us achieve our target."

Malaysia Super League (MSL) champions Johor Darul Ta'zim -- the local team of the Johor province -- are often referred to as the Manchester City of Southeast Asian football on account of their high spending on elite talent acquisition.

Tunku Ismail also announced that Borussia Dortmund would be visiting JDT for a friendly in July.
