Loic Perrin reveals Arsenal interest, no official bid to Saint-Etienne

Saint-Etienne defender Loic Perrin has told French newspaper Le Progres that he has been approached by Arsenal about a move to the Premier League club.

Perrin, 29, has reportedly been targeted by Arsene Wenger to bolster the Gunners' back four after an impressive first half of the season in Ligue 1.

Following Saint-Etienne's Coupe de France win over Nancy on Sunday, the ever-reliable centre-back, who can also play in midfield, confirmed to Le Progres that the Gunners had contacted him with regard to a potential January switch.

However, the paper said Les Verts' captain told them "that the British bosses had not, as far as he knew, contacted their Saint-Etienne counterparts."

Saint-Etienne-born Perrin, who made his professional debut with his hometown club in 2003 and has made 235 top-flight appearances for them, was one of seven reserves named by Didier Deschamps for France's 2014 World Cup squad, and has been named in recent Les Bleus' squads.
