Luis Enrique says Barcelona's bad luck in front of goal decisive vs. La Real

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique was in a defensive mood after his side were beaten 1-0 at David Moyes' Real Sociedad on Sunday night.

A much-changed Barca XI without either Lionel Messi or Neymar went behind within 80 seconds through a Jordi Alba own-goal, and even after both superstars were introduced after the break rarely looked like forcing an equaliser. Barcelona went scoreless for a second successive away game in La Liga.

The blaugrana coach told his post-game news conference at Anoeta that his side had deserved more, but lacked the required good fortune in front of goal.

"I felt that it was a difficult game, for the opponent, for how the game began with unfortunate concession of goal," said Enrique.

"Their goal came from a set-piece, from there on we dominated. In the second half we had more chances to score. The result is not fair, we deserved more. But in football you need to get the ball in net, and we lacked the luck needed to do that today. La Real defended very well, it was a very serious game from them."

The former Barca player said he did not have any regrets about a team selection which also saw Ivan Rakitic, Dani Alves and Gerard Pique left out of the initial XI.

"To feel sorry afterwards is not really any use," Enrique said. "I did not want to take big risks with these players [Messi and Neymar], who had made long journey two days before the game. They came on in the second half. You never know what might have happened if you make a different decision."

Barca have struggled regularly away from home all season, dropping points at Malaga and Getafe, and needing late winners to beat Almeria and Valencia.

Enrique denied his team were unable to break down deep lying defences when playing away from the Camp Nou.

"It was not like the Malaga game, maybe like the Getafe game as they had so many players close to goal," he said.

"But we are used to that. When we face it and score five goals then we are fine. But when we are not as fine in front of goals as we would like to, it does not look so good. Conceding early meant they could sit back even more than usual."
