Hull manager Steve Bruce admits interest in Jermain Defoe

Hull manager Steve Bruce revealed after Thursday's 2-0 win over Everton that ex-England striker Jermain Defoe is on his radar in the January transfer window.

The 32-year-old is thought to be available at the right price from Major League Soccer franchise Toronto FC but Hull, like QPR, appear to have concerns over the finances involved.

"There's always speculation... you ask any club in the bottom of the division, all of us would say yes,'' he said of adding Defoe. "Whether we can do it financially is another problem.

"If he becomes available, which I believe he is, then we'd love to do something. I think it might be too expensive but it's not a bad bit of speculation.''

As for the on-field performance, Bruce was delighted.

"It's been probably our best performance,'' he said. "We've seen glimpses of it but from the first minute to the 90th there was a determination that it was going to be our day.

"It was the most convincing. We deserved to win the game by a country mile.''
