Palermo's Paulo Dybala wants Champions League football

Paulo Dybala says he has yet to discuss a new contract with Palermo and suggested he may move on in search of Champions League football.

The Argentina-born 21-year-old forward has caught the eye during the first half of the Serie A season, so much so that Italy coach Antonio Conte attempted to convince him to pledge his allegiance to the Azzurri.

Various top European clubs have been linked with a move for his services, and Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has placed a price tag of 40 million euros on his shoulders.

With his contract up for renewal in 2016, the Sicilians may find a few offers arriving in the coming summer as his contract enters its final 12 months, and while they will be keen to secure an extension, Dybala suggested he may seek a bigger stage.

"It's something which my agent is dealing with, but it would have to be an agreement which satisfies both sides," Dybala said in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.

"My desire, since I was a young boy, has always been to play for a big club and to play in the Champions League. I'm still young and I also dream of representing my country, but there are so many star names and I'll just have to wait for my chance."

Dybala is therefore taking things one step at a time and the first objective is to ensure 10th-placed Palermo will still be playing in Serie A next season.

"My dream for the new year is to have a great season personally and with Palermo," Dybala said. "I want us to finish as high as possible, although our primary aim is to stay up. I hope it will be a good year for Palermo for everybody, also for the fans."
