Mauricio Pochettino won't blame schedule after Spurs draw with United

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino rejected any invitation to criticise the Premier League's Christmas schedule after the 0-0 draw with Manchester United, insisting the situation was the same for all teams.

Spurs and United played out a lacklustre 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane on Sunday, with the tempo dropping in the second half, and United boss Louis van Gaal said that ultimately it was "not football anymore -- it was a struggle for life."

However, Pochettino told the media: "I never complain when the opponent is in the same condition.

"I think that Tottenham, from the beginning from the season, is the team that has had the fewest recovery days in all the competitions we play, but I never complain about that and I think Manchester United had the same hours for recovery as us."

Pochettino was happy with the way his team performed overall, adding: "I think it was a fair result. We showed that we are more solid, like a team. It's true that in the first half they had more chances than us, but in the second half we deserved more."

They were also thankful for the performance of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, but the Spurs boss said: "Lloris is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. It's not new for me. We know the quality from Hugo.''

Pochettino felt Spurs might have had a penalty in the second half following Wayne Rooney's grappling on Harry Kane at a corner.

"Maybe it was a penalty, from seeing the TV now, but from my vision during the game it was difficult to identify if it was a penalty or not," he said.
