Fernando Torres 'excited' at prospect of Atletico Madrid return - brother

Fernando Torres is "very happy" about the prospect of returning to Atletico Madrid next month, his brother has said.

Torres, 30, has been on loan at AC Milan this season and Chelsea announced on Saturday that a deal is now agreed for the Spaniard to join the Rossoneri on a permanent deal from Jan. 5.

However, it appears Milan sanctioned the permanent transfer so that they can use Torres as part of an exchange deal for Atletico's Alessio Cerci, who, according to AS and Sky Sport Italia, has now agreed to join the Italian club.

Marca quotes Israel Torres, Fernando's brother, as saying the striker is "very happy and excited" about the "opportunity" to return to Atletico, where he had starred until his 2007 move to Liverpool.

AS also quoted Atletico assistant coach German Burgos as saying: "He'll be a great reinforcement for us in facing the second phase of the league campaign. We'll get the best out of him, as we do all our players at the club. He knows where he's heading."
