Ji Dong-Won has rejoined Augsburg from Borussia Dortmund following six months at the struggling Bundesliga club. Ji, 23, put pen to paper on a contract until 2018 on Monday. The forward will join Augsburg for the third time in January, following two six-month stints on loan from Sunderland. The South Korea international has made a total of 31 league appearances for his old club, scoring six goals. However, injuries restricted Ji to just five starts for BVB's reserve side, and he failed to play a minute for Jurgen Klopp's first-team despite the club ending the first half of the season in the relegation zone. "We would like to thank Dong-Won Ji for his efforts and wish him all the best for his future," BVB sporting director Michael Zorc said in a brief statement on the club's official website. "I am delighted to be able to wear the Augsburg jersey again," Ji told Augsburg's official website. " I want to be back to my best as soon as possible, and want to help the team achieve our goals." Augsburg sporting executive Stefan Reuter, a 1997 Champions League winner with Dortmund, added: "When the window opened to sign Ji Dong-Won, we opted to do so because he can add additional quality to the squad. "We know him, he knows us and we are sure that he, in this surrounding, will build on his top performances he has shown here." Both clubs agreed that details of the transfer fee shall remain undisclosed. Augsburg sit sixth in Bundesliga going into the winter break, and hold a 12-point-lead over Dortmund.
