Celtic charged by UEFA over crowd disorder at Dinamo Zagreb

UEFA has opened a disciplinary case against Celtic after crowd disorder at a Europa League match against Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia last week.

Celtic fans set off fireworks and clashed with riot police during a 4-3 loss on Thursday.

In a statement, UEFA confirmed that the charge is based on an alleged breach of article 16 (2) (h) of its disciplinary regulations, which reads: "All associations and clubs are liable for the following inappropriate behaviour on the part of their supporters and may be subject to disciplinary measures and directives even if they can prove the absence of any negligence in relation to the organisation of the match any lack of order or discipline observed inside or around the stadium."

It is the fifth time in the last three years that European football's governing body has charged Celtic in relation to the behaviour of their fans.

UEFA's disciplinary panel will judge the case on Feb. 19, the same day the Scottish champions host Inter Milan in the first leg of their last-32 tie.
