Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle has written a letter to Hellas Verona forward Luca Toni, congratulating him on scoring the 300th goal of his career at the weekend. Toni, 37, reached the milestone with his strike in Verona's 2-1 win over Udinese on Sunday and Della Valle has paid tribute to the Italian forward, who scored 56 goals in 98 games for the Viola. Della Valle on his club's official website: "Dear Luca, "[You have scored] 300 goals and many successes in your career, which reached its zenith with victory in the World Cup in 2006, and I am proud that part of your story was written at Fiorentina. "You were Capocannoniere [top scorer in Serie A, in 2005-06] with us and won the golden boot, contributing to many victories, and we still remember your touches to this day in Florence. "When you have enthusiasm and passion, as you continue to demonstrate, then anything is possible. From me and from all of the Fiorentina family, I would like to pass on many compliments and send you a big hug." Toni moved on to five goals for the season at the Stadio Friuli on Sunday, four fewer than the league's current top scorer, Juventus' Carlos Tevez.
