Malaysia striker Norshahrul: I'll score in Suzuki Cup semifinal

Malaysia striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha is confident that he will end his goal drought for the national team in Sunday's AFF Suzuki Cup semifinal against Vietnam.

28-year-old Norshahrul -- who has signed up with Armed Forces for the 2015 Malaysia Super League season -- last scored in a competitive game for Harimau Malaya in October 2013 during the 1-1 draw against Bahrain in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

"I've got my touch back. I'm pretty sure I'll score soon for the team in the Suzuki Cup. I just need to be a little more patient," Norshahrul told The Star.

"I've been playing regularly with the national team now. I am happy that the coach has confidence in me. But I am disappointed because I am yet to get my name on the scoresheet in the Suzuki Cup," said the forward who was a key member of the Malaysia team which won the elite ASEAN competition in 2010.

Norshahrul, popularly known as Mat Yo, added that he is focused on being clinical against Vietnam. "I will make my chances count. We need to make sure we convert our chances. The first semifinal will be an interesting match. We will be going for an early kill."

After the home game at Shah Alam Stadium, Malaysia will travel to Hanoi for the second leg of the semifinal away on Thursday. The two-legged final of the 10th Southeast Asian championship will be played on Dec. 17 and 20.
