Paris St Germain missed the chance to snatch top spot in Ligue 1 as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Lille on Wednesday.

Marseille had been held by Lorient 24 hours earlier, meaning PSG could have leapfrogged their rivals with victory -- but goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu's error ended their nine-match winning run in all competitions and kept them in second place.

Edinson Cavani put the reigning champions ahead when he converted Ezequiel Lavezzi's right-wing cross but, when Lille defender David Rozenhal met Sebastien Corchia's corner five minutes before half-time, Sirigu could only divert the ball into his own goal.

St Etienne followed up their derby victory over Lyon by seeing off Montpellier 2-0 to climb to third place.

Les Verts beat their arch rivals on home soil for the first time in 20 years on Sunday, ending a run of five successive draws. And they picked up maximum points on the road on Wednesday thanks to first-half goals from Florentin Pogba and Paul Baysse.

Rennes moved fourth with a 2-1 win at Nice -- but only after a nervous finish to the game.

Goals from Paul-Georges Ntep in the first half and Anders Konradsen early in the second put the visitors in control.

But Dario Cvitanich pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute and Eric Bautheac hit the woodwork twice in the closing stages as Nice sought a probably deserved leveller -- but it wasn't to be.

Cedric Carrasso saved a late penalty to earn Bordeaux a 0-0 draw against Metz.

The goalkeeper redeemed himself by saving Florent Malouda's spot-kick which he had conceded when he took out Metz striker Modibo Maiga as the West Ham loanee bore down on goal.

The result stopped a run of three consecutive Ligue 1 defeats for the home side who remain 12th in the table while Bordeaux are fifth, just a point off the Champions League places.

Evian fought back from a goal down to snatch a 2-1 victory over fellow strugglers Bastia.

Hosts Bastia took the lead when Evian right-back Kassim Abdallah put through his own net 10 minutes before half-time, but in-form striker Daniel Wass drew Evian level shortly after the hour mark with a sweetly struck free kick.

Bastia looked destined to earn a point in Ghislain Printant's second game in full-time charge, but Clarck N'Sikulu snatched victory for Evian eight minutes from time when he slotted home to complete a swift counter-attack move.

Christophe Mandanne and Claudio Beauvue scored twice apiece as Guingamp moved off the foot of Ligue 1 with a comfortable 5-1 victory over 10-man Caen at the Stade du Roudourou.

The hosts ended a four-match losing streak in all competitions as they got off the mark early on through Mandanne and though Alaeddine Yahia struck an equaliser for Caen after 17 minutes, Thibault Giresse put Jocelyn Gourvennec's men ahead for the second time three minutes later.

Jean-Jacques Pierre saw red for the away side before Mandanne's second -- just after the hour -- was sandwiched between a Beauvue penalty and his 78th-minute effort.

The result moved Guingamp off the bottom of the table and one point above the relegation zone and in turn condemned their opponents, who have not won in the league since October, to drop down a place into 18th.
