Sergio Ramos laughs off questions on Jose Mourinho criticism

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos declined to pursue a war of words with Jose Mourinho when asked about his former coach's criticism of his remarks on Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa.

Ramos had caused controversy when he suggested Chelsea duo Fabregas and Costa could have played for Spain last month but had lacked commitment to their country after reporting injuries.

Mourinho, who is widely reported to have had a difficult relationship with Ramos during his time at the Bernabeu, told the media in response: "He is not a doctor ... I don't think Sergio did a medicine masters in the last couple of years to understand about it."

Ramos -- who has now settled his differences with Fabregas during a telephone conversation -- opted not to add any fuel to the fire when asked about Mourinho on Saturday.

"I have nothing to say about the Celta president [Carlos Mourino]," he joked to reporters.

Ramos was speaking after a 2-1 win at Malaga had given Real Madrid a club record 16th consecutive victory in all competitions.

"It is a historic night," he said. "We have set a very important record and it is a day to congratulate [coach Carlo] Ancelotti and all of the staff. We are on the right track. He is the patron of this Real Madrid -- there is enormous tranquillity in the dressing room and that is fundamental in the team."
