Angel Di Maria out of Man United vs. Stoke clash after hamstring injury

Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Angel Di Maria is likely to miss Manchester United's clash against Stoke on Tuesday, though club captain Wayne Rooney could feature following Saturday's 3-0 victory over Hull.

Di Maria, 26, was substituted just 14 minutes into the Red Devils' Premier League win at Old Trafford after picking up what appeared to be a hamstring injury, becoming the 41st United injury this season.

"Angel shall be out for Stoke, I think," Van Gaal told the club's official website. "Wayne, I don't know. He said he would be fit for Stoke. I hope he is because he is in great form."

Rooney scored United's second goal against Hull though was in some discomfort after colliding with advertising boards, and Van Gaal said later: "He had a kick on his calf [in the first half] I believe. He then had a kick on his knee but it was not too serious because he said he will play."

The Dutch coach also said he was pleased with his side's performance.

"We scored three, created more chances and didn't give any away," he added. "That's very good."

The win over Steve Bruce's side -- United's third in a row -- sends them fourth in the table, with 22 points from 13 games.
