Germany set dates for friendlies vs. U.S., Australia, Netherlands

World champions Germany have confirmed the date and venue for a friendly match against United States next summer as part of their 2015 calendar, the German football association [DFB] has announced.

The 2014 World Cup winners are set to play nine matches in the upcoming year. Besides the six remaining fixtures in their 2016 European Championship qualification campaign, Die Nationalmannschaft have also arranged three friendlies.

On March 25, Joachim Low's side will meet Australia in Kaiserslautern, and on June 10 they will face former head coach Jurgen Klinsmann in Cologne when they take on United States in a rematch of the 2014 World Cup group match which ended 1-0 to the eventual champions in a rain-hit Recife.

Should Germany avoid the playoff matches for Euro 2016 by qualifying directly from their group, they will end 2015 with a friendly against neighbours Netherlands in Hannover.

Germany have struggled to replicate their World Cup-winning form in their first four qualifying matches in group D, and are currently third behind Poland and Republic of Ireland.

Finishing in that place would see them require a playoff to reach the finals in France. They have picked up seven points, three fewer than leaders Poland and as many as Ireland and Scotland, who currently hold the fourth spot.
