Lille have told Liverpool they will not be recalling teenage striker Divock Origi from his loan spell in France.

Liverpool signed the 19-year-old Belgium international from Lille in a summer deal worth 10 million pounds, but the French club allowed the move to go through only on condition that the 19-year-old was loaned back to them for the campaign.

But after striker Daniel Sturridge suffered another injury setback this month, ruling him out until the New Year, reports suggested the Merseysiders were considering paying extra to end the loan agreement early and bring Origi over in January.

Manager Brendan Rodgers, who has seen his side struggle badly for form this season after coming agonisingly close to a first league title since 1990 last time out, said that was unlikely to happen.

He added: "The deal was put in place quite clearly in the summer that he would stay at Lille for the season. As far as I'm concerned, that's still the case."

And Lille boss Rene Girard stressed that Origi was staying put, telling a news conference ahead of his club's Europa League tie against Kuban Krasnodar: "There's no worries as far as Divock Origi is concerned.

"He's with us, and he will be until the end of the season, as planned."

Earlier this season, Girard was swift to deny media reports that Origi could move back to Liverpool in January, with Mario Balotelli going in the opposite direction.
