Malaysia to go on attack against Thailand in AFF Suzuki Cup

Malaysia coach Dollah Salleh is promising an attacking approach as his team to look to upset Group B leaders Thailand in the AFF Suzuki Cup in Singapore later today.

Harimau Malaya were held to a goalless draw in their opening match against Myanmar on Sunday. But Dollah predicts that they will find the back of the net in their crucial second match.

Dollah could partner 2010 AFF top scorer Safee Sali with Norshahrul Idlan Talaha in attack on the synthetic pitch of the Jalan Besar Stadium.

"We will score," Dollah told The New Straits Times. "Norshahrul is trying very hard in training and maybe he will produce something special against Thailand."

Dollah started with seven players from the 2012 Suzuki Cup in the draw with Myanmar but had to take a more defensive approach when Gary Steven Robbat was sent off before halftime.

The midfielder will serve a suspension today while forward Amri Yahyah and winger Azamuddin Akil are walking a disciplinary tightrope, on one yellow card each. They will be miss the next match against Singapore on Saturday if they are cautioned against the Thais.

Dollah said: "I don't want Malaysia to end the match with 10 players. No more red cards. It will affect our performance if it happens again. However, I also do not want those on yellow cards to play cautiously. I want them to produce their normal game."

Malaysia are the 2010 champions, but could move a step closer to bowing out in the group stages if they lose to Kiatisuk Senamuang's young and quick Thai side. The War Elephants beat Singapore 2-1 on Sunday.

The Singaporeans, reigning champions and 2014 co-hosts, play Myanmar in the later match in Group B at the National Stadium in the Singapore Sports Hub.
