Daniel Sturridge: Latest injury setback 'just another hurdle to jump over'

Daniel Sturridge insists he will soon return for Liverpool after his latest injury setback, describing the thigh strain which will likely rule him out until the New Year as "just another hurdle to jump over."

Sturridge, 25, has already been sidelined twice this season by thigh and calf problems, and is set to miss the Reds' busy festive schedule after picking up the thigh problem in training last Tuesday.

Brendan Rodgers' side have badly missed the goals that Luis Suarez -- who moved to Barcelona this summer -- and Sturridge provided last season as they currently sit 12th in the Premier League, though the England international is confident he will be back to lead the line for Liverpool.

The striker posted a message on his Instagram account with the accompanying caption: "Through all this I'm growing as a man and an athlete. Everybody goes through things in their life that can make or break them. This for me is just another hurdle to jump over. Another door to break down. I'll be back soon enough strong and ready to play. Thanks to everyone for your support."

Sturridge has not played for Liverpool since August, and has not featured in any game since playing 89 minutes for England in a 1-0 friendly victory against Norway on Sept. 3.

He suffered a thigh injury during an England practice session two days later, leading Rodgers to claim that Three Lions' boss Roy Hodgson was over-training him.

Sturridge was close to making a return when he suffered a calf complaint while training with the Reds on Oct. 16. Although the new thigh injury is not related to the one he suffered with England, it still leaves Rodgers with a dilemma as Liverpool slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace on Sunday.
