Brazil hit four against Turkey as Netherlands lose at home to Mexico

Neymar scored twice as Brazil ran out convincing 4-0 winners against Turkey at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in a friendly in Istanbul on Wednesday.

The South Americans were in front after 20 minutes when the Barcelona forward connected with a long ball from Fernandinho to slot home.

And barely three minutes later the lead was doubled. Home defender Semih Kaya tried to intercept a pass from Danilo but could only turn the ball into his own net.

Brazil were in complete control two minutes before the interval with Neymar again playing a part, darting down the left before picking out Willian with a perfectly weighted ball which the Chelsea midfielder drilled low into the net.

And it was Neymar who rounded off the scoring on the hour, combining once more with Willian before providing the finishing touch.

Lionel Messi scored the winner from the penalty spot as Argentina came from behind to beat Croatia 2-1 at Upton Park in east London.

Messi's goal in the 57th minute came after striker Sergio Aguero was judged to have been brought down by Croatia goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic when trying to round him. Messi stroked the ball into the bottom right corner as Kalinic dived the wrong way.

Croatia took a deserved lead in the 11th minute when Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero parried the ball into the path of striker Anas Sharbini, who slotted home.

Defender Christian Ansaldi equalized for Argentina in the 49th minute after his shot from the edge of the penalty area was deflected past Kalinic by Aguero.

Carlos Vela scored twice as Mexico beat Netherlands 3-2 to hand Guus Hiddink's team its fourth defeat in five matches since he took over.

The defeat highlighted defensive frailties that have crept into the Dutch team since Hiddink replaced Louis van Gaal after the World Cup. It also heaped more pressure on the coach, who has hinted he will quit if his team loses Sunday's European qualifier to Latvia.

Vela, playing his first international in more than two years, scored in the eighth and 62nd minutes after Wesley Sneijder had briefly equalised for the hosts early in the second half.

Javier Hernandez made it 3-1 for Mexico in the 69th minute and Daley Blind's deflected drive reduced the deficit five minutes later.

Second-half goals from substitute pair Divock Origi and Romelu Lukaku lifted Belgium to a 3-1 victory over Iceland in Brussels.

Despite Belgium, who have four points from their opening two European Championship qualifiers, taking a 10th-minute lead through Nicolas Lombaerts, they were pegged back almost straight away by Alfred Finnbogason.

But second-half substitutes Origi and Everton striker Lukaku struck in the 62nd and 73rd minutes to end the resolve of Iceland, who top their Euro 2016 qualifying group after three straight wins.

Elsewhere, Norway slipped to a surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Estonia, who scored the only goal of the game through Konstantin Vassiljev's strike midway through the first half.

Per-Mathias Hogmo's men could not find a way back in Oslo, despite 15-year-old prodigy Martin Odegaard coming off the bench just before the hour mark for his fourth cap.
