Anderson hints at Gremio return as Manchester United exit looms

Anderson has admitted he could leave Manchester United to rejoin his first club Gremio.

The Brazilian is in the last year of his contract at Old Trafford and is expected to leave the former Premier League champions, perhaps in the January transfer window.

And the 26-year-old told Radio Bandeirantes: "There's always the possibility of returning to Gremio. It's my home and I still support them -- everyone knows that. It would allow me to be near my family."

Anderson began his career at Gremio before moving on to Porto in 2006 and joining United a year later for an initial 18 million pounds.

The midfielder helped United win the Premier League title and the Champions League during his first season at Old Trafford but has featured less often in recent times.

He started just two league games under David Moyes and was loaned to Fiorentina, where he failed to make a mark in the second half of last season.

Anderson has only made two appearances this season, with the last coming as a replacement for Angel Di Maria in August's 0-0 draw at Burnley.

And during the last three transfer windows, United have signed five other midfielders -- Marouane Fellaini, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Daley Blind and Di Maria.
