Jose Mourinho not interested in Liverpool's Steven Gerrard

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out making a move for Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

Last month, Gerrard, 34, suggested he could leave Anfield when his current contract expires next summer.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has since hinted he could make an approach for the midfielder.

However, when asked if he would be interested in signing Gerrard next summer, Mourinho said in the Daily Star: "No. How long can he still play? I don't know."

Mourinho tried to sign Gerrard during his first spell at Stamford Bridge, and he was asked if he had any regrets about failing to secure his signature.

The Blues boss said: "No. It was a long time ago."

Liverpool host Premier League leaders Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime, with the Reds looking for revenge after their 2-0 loss in the corresponding fixture last season.
