Luis Enrique not at fault for Barcelona's problems - Johan Cruyff

Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff has said Blaugrana coach Luis Enrique is not to blame for a disappointing past week at the Camp Nou.

Barca started the season impressively, but successive defeats to Real Madrid and Celta Vigo have led to the first real questioning of Enrique, and even to some reported unrest in the dressing room.

Cruyff entered the debate on Monday when he spoke at the launch of "L'Ultim partit", a documentary released to mark 40 years since his arrival at the Catalan club, which features interviews with Josep Guardiola, Xavi Hernandez and Vicente del Bosque.

The Dutchman said at the event institutional issues and the continual turnover of coaches at the club were bigger problems than Enrique's ability.

"Luis Enrique has something in his favour," Cruyff said. "I signed him [in 1996], although they kicked me out and I could not coach him. He loves this sport. It is difficult to give advice to Luis Enrique. I am not inside, I cannot advise him.

"Barcelona had two coaches [Frank Rijkaard and Guardiola] in nine years, and now three [with Tito Vilanova, Gerardo Martino and Enrique] in three. There are more things going on that are not seen. There is no point to this social division."

Meanwhile, Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu said he and his fellow directors had full faith in the coach they appointed in the summer, and that two poor results would not be remembered once the situation had turned around.

"There must be patience with Luis Enrique -- there is total confidence in him," Bartomeu told Esport3. "These two defeats will soon be forgotten. We must be relaxed, there is a lot of La Liga left, a lot to play for and we have a team with a lot of talent.

"Luis Enrique knows clearly what he wants. I speak with him on the phone a lot. I know he sees our confidence. I know he puts in a lot of effort, and I like his fighting spirit."

Barca's first two La Liga defeats of the season have coincided with Luis Suarez -- who arrived for 80 million euros from Liverpool in the summer -- being available to play following his ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

Ex-Madrid coach Fabio Capello has said it will take time for Enrique to find the right system to include Suarez alongside Lionel Messi, adding that the situation is similar to that overcome by current Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti.

"For sure, [Suarez] will end up playing as a centre-forward, with Messi in the hole behind him," Capello told Al Primer Toque. "The system must be changed a bit, as Carlo has done, but they will find it because, when having great players, it is easily done.

"Until Suarez was able to play, [Enrique] did not have a problem positioning his players, but in this moment you need to look for new solutions. Without [Gareth] Bale, Carlo has found that the team works with a 4-4-2. Luis Enrique is an intelligent kid, and for sure he will come up with a solution."
