John Terry to lobby Chelsea board over Stamford Bridge ticket pricing

Chelsea captain John Terry has told a fan who voiced his anger at Jose Mourinho's weekend comments about a lack of noise from Stamford Bridge fans that he would lobby for ticket pricing to be addressed.

After his side had beaten London rivals Queens Park Rangers 2-1 on Saturday, manager Mourinho hit out at the lack of vocal support and said it had been "like playing in an empty stadium."

The Daily Telegraph said fan Joe Davies contacted skipper Terry to voice disappointment at the remarks -- which were condemned by supporters' groups -- and express concern that many fans were priced out of attending home games.

Terry replied, asking for his telephone number and calling him for a conversation in which he said he and his fellow players would raise the matter with directors.

The Daily Telegraph quoted Davies as saying: "Now I'm 18, I'm expected to pay £50 for a game against Hull, even though I'm only on an apprenticeship [wages] at the moment."

He claimed Terry had agreed that was "ridiculous" and mentioned an idea proposed by another supporter that fans aged between 18 and 21 could get discounted tickets.

The original message sent by Davies to the defender said Mourinho's comments were "completely bang out of order for people who pay ridiculous prices each week to watch Chelsea."

It said "many proper fans are being priced out of going to Stamford Bridge and being replaced by tourists who, of course, won't be singing or making noise."

"There are many solutions to the atmosphere problem, like singing sections, safe standing, cheaper tickets, but the club has done nothing."
