Sydney FC made it three wins in a row in the A-League with a 2-0 victory over Central Coast Mariners. FC drew their season opener but have been perfect ever since with Terry Antonis opening the scoring after 21 minutes. Sasa Ognenovski scored the second five minutes later to move Sydney on to 10 points alongside Adelaide United at the top of the table. Perth Glory had previously beaten Newcastle Jets 2-1 courtesy of two goals from substitute Jamie Maclaren. Newcastle had gone ahead through Jeronimo Neumann after 74 minutes, but Maclaren came off the bench and made an instant impact, turning home a cross before heading home a winner.
