Brazil to select Neymar for Olympics team in 2016

Brazil will select Neymar as one of Brazil's three over-age players for the 2016 Olympics, manager Alexandre Gallo said on Thursday.

Olympic teams are made up of under-23 players with the addition of up to three older players.

Gallo will call up Barcelona's Neymar along with one or two other over-age players.

"I will take three players," Gallo told Sportv. "Or rather two. One will be Neymar. You can't think about Brazilian football without thinking of him."

Rio de Janeiro will be the host city as Brazil search for the first football gold medal in the Olympics -- the only major tournament they've yet to win. In London in 2012, Neymar and Brazil settled for silver after losing the gold medal game to Mexico.

Brazil's senior team will play in the Copa America Centanario in the United States in June 2016, making it a very busy summer for Neymar if he also participates in the Olympics in August.
